New Guide: Fire Resist

I put up a new Fire Resist Guide that outlines what you guys should be doing in free time in order to get us geared up. Feel free to ask questions in the comments if you have any.

Is AC much of an issue? I have been looking at the fire resist gear available to hunters, and it doesn’t look so hot. Would it be okay for hunters to have a mixture of leather and mail? I think I could get similar fire resist values by wearing some leather, and not sacrifice as many stats. As it stands wearing accessible mail, most of it is geared toward shamans, which means hunters will be losing a ton of agility and therefore dps. I say this of course under the assumption that if one of these +agi +fire resist things drop, that a rogue will not need it if I am going to roll.

I’d recommend the following for hunters:

    Pyremail Wristguards of the Monkey
    Black Dragonscale Leggings
    Black Dragonscale Breastplate
    Black Dragonscale Shoulders

If you put these items on instead of the equivalent beaststalker item, this is what the change in stats would be:

    Ranged Attack Power: +18
    Melee Attack Power: +70
    Fire Resist: +41
    Crit: -1.2%
    Dodge: -2.4%
    AC: -22
    INT: -20
    SPI: -22
    STA: -5

So you’d actually be gaining some ranged DPS, at the expense of a little bit of crit, some dodge, and mana. Not to mention you get 41 Fire Resist. To me, it doesn’t seem like that bad of a tradeoff. However, if you wanted to wear leather items instead of mail, I’d have no problem with that.

In case you are curious, the attack power on the Black Dragonscale stuff translates into both melee and ranged attack power. For you hunters, 1 AP = 1 STR, 0.5 AGI. The only think you lose from the AGI is the % crit, the % dodge, and the small AC boost. In MC, losing crit % for ranged attack power is probably actually a good idea.

I was definitely planning on wearing those 4 items (or at least some variation of the bracers) 🙂 I probably should have been more clear – I meant more along the lines of the helm, boots (ideally I would like Black Dragonscale boots, but that requires MC materials and I don’t think anyone can craft them yet), belt, etc 🙂

I have 2/4 of those items, just need about 25 more dragonscales for my leggings I think, and of course there’s the unknown number of BRD runs I’ll have to make (which hopefully won’t be too many)

er, that is with regards to wanting more fire resist than what I will get just wearing the bare minimum that is recommended.
