Battlegrounds: First Thoughts

My first thoughts? Frickin’ sweet. Well actually my first thoughts were “I wish I wasn’t lagging so bad that I could play”. However, I tried again yesterday and it was more sane (considering that PVPers from every server are crammed into two parts of the world). All in all, I had an amazing time. I think battlegrounds will be a signifcant improvement for the game.

Short Summaries

Warsong Gulch

This is a very small map for 10 v 10 CTF. It uses the rules that you have to have your flag in the base to capture the oppents flag. You can’t use your mount when to run the flag back, but druids can use travel form. There are also little speed boots power-ups that spawn that make you run as fast as an epic mount for 20 seconds (maybe 10…seemed pretty long though). Three caps win the round. There’s also little houses you can stand in that will rejuice all your health and mana (quickly).

Alterac Valley

This was more Battlefield 1942-ish. You have towers, mines, graveyards, and bases to capture and defend. You capture by defating the enemy NPCs and touching a flag. The battles are much more large scale in this one.

Screenies

The Alliance summoned their elemental last night. Ivus was the real deal. He was like having our own private Lord Kazzak to completely own the Horde. He was 1 and 2 shotting people left and right and pretty much wreaking havok on the towns as he progressed slowly down the path towards their base.

Stats for stat whores like me.

We took over a tower by killing a bunch of these guys and then touching the flag (notice it is blue).

Someone summoned a bunch of mounted guys who were patrolling our foward outpost. These are one of the spawns that lowbies can create. Unfortunately I didn’t get to see any Horde stumble into the middle of all those elites.

Our forward outpost boss. Meh.
